Artistic form and movement explorations of the performance refer to Erving Goffman’s theory of a system of hidden rules determining human’s behavior. Direct face to face contact is kind of a performance. One’s attempts to manipulate the impression that the recipient gets of him or her, by controlling certain appearance or manners. For the public we expose only the „frontal” part of self that covers another part - the coulisse. Goffman’s facades take shape of various forms, depending on an aim that one wants to achieve. These forms congeal and stiffen. A crust is forged of expectations, trends and tendencies. Trained poses, false emotions build our „everyday life”, „natural” way of being, that becomes more and more concrete. Once it crushes we can see, what’s hidden underneath.

“Relationship with other is an entrance to the space of stage, wearing masks projected by ourselves that fit certain circumstances. These masks force poses, behaviors. A whole net of gestures and rules, activated in contact with other person. This net stiffens, congeal. Becomes the only available tool that determines our being around and with others. “Glamour” looks at this net, examining mechanisms, that condition our social existence. Movement has a perverse function in this performance. From one side shows mechanisms maintaining the community, from the other – superficiality, facades of interpersonal relationships. “ Anna Jazgarska
