Magda Skowron

 

Magdalena Skowron - Graduated in Choreography and Dance Theory from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. A graduate of Dance Education at the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź. Currently she cooperates with the Krakow Dance Theatre, where she is a dancer, teacher and co-author of artistic and educational projects, as well as with the Krakow Variete Theatre. She participated in the international program at Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel and was a dancer at Elephant in the Black Box Junior Dance Company in Madrid. She graduated from the Private Ballet School in Gliwice.

Skowron received the City of Krakow Scholarship for 2019, as part of which, together with Pamela Bosak, she created the performance "an_na" and conducted workshops as part of the project "City Reaction". She is the author of the spectacle "My sadness is simply chemical in the nature", realized with a group of Adepts of the Krakow Dance Theatre. The performance "Pusto Pełno Pusto" was presented, among others, as part of the "Portraits. Women in Polish choreography" co-organized by the Institute of Music and Dance as part of the program "Stage for Dance" or "Woman in Space" at the Negative Gallery in Katowice. The duo for dancer and cello "More" to Paweł Czarakcziew's music was selected for the "Young Poland" program during the 22nd International Meeting of Dance Theatres in Lublin. Her etude "...is a cage" was presented during the Evening of Young Choreographers in Kibbutz Ga'aton, Israel in 2015.

She has worked with such choreographers as: Ayrin Ersoz ("The Score", "The Entrance"), Eryk Makohon ("Takarazuka camp", "Glamour", "We/You", "Estra and Andro"), Idan Cohen ("Nesting"), Jean Philippe Dury ("Starlings", "Le sacre du printemps"), Marco Blazquez ("1♀36"), Eyal Dadon ("Surrendair"), Iwona Olszowska, Jarosław Staniek and Katarzyna Zielonka („Threepenny Opera"). She has also collaborated with director Agata Duda-Gracz ("revolutionary") and Jerzy Jan Połoński („Threepenny Opera"). She has performed on stages in Poland, Spain, Israel, Switzerland, Turkey and Holland.

Magda Skowron conducts regular contemporary dance classes in groups of Adepts of the Krakow Dance Theatre, as well as workshops for children and youth all over Poland. She is a co-author of the "Axiomotum" program carried out at the Municipal Cultural Centre in Ksawerów, which combines philosophy with dance improvisation for children. She conducted workshops on body awareness in a support group for people with anorexia created in cooperation with the National Nutrition Disorders Centre. She cooperated with the Lesser Poland Centre od the Sound and Word as part of the Winter in the City, Summer in the City action addressed to children. She participated in workshops Dance and Gestalt Therapy based on Anna Halprin's Life/Art Process organized by the Association of Educators of Educational Movement Forms KINED Center in Warsaw and Basics of Dance and Movement Psychotherapy at the Polish Institute of Dance and Movement Therapy. 

Magda gained training in Europe, Israel and the United States, including the Summer School at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, Amsterdam Summer Intensive, workshops in Gibney and Peridance Capezio Center in New York. She completed a course in Stage Choreography in Krakow.
